A fantastic place to bring children, families, anyone looking to see wide open spaces in a unique prairie setting. The trails are easily accessible for all, where those with disabilities can easily navigate throughout the main trails with ease. The signs and postings are well marked and easily visible. A true gem and highly recommendable environmental visit.
Really nice place to just get out and enjoy some green nature. Not too much was blooming in early June, but it was still very pretty and peaceful. We mostly hung out around the prairie area.
The Prairie at Jennings Environmental Education Center is a beautiful place teaming with life and native biodiversity. The gift shop and classroom has interesting educational materials. There are forested trails as well.
The fall foliage was beautiful! I took my dog and we parked at the environmental center which lead to several trails. The trails were well marked and had gravel paths. The only thing that made me uneasy is that some of the upper tails have caution signs about hunting being permitted in the area. I did hear distant gun shots so we avoided those trails.
I lived literally down the street from this area for about 12 years, yet had never walked the loop. I'm a pretty serious hiker, so the terrain was a bit tame for my liking, but this was just a stroll. And a pleasant stroll it was! There are informative signs and placards along the way, and the trail is nicely mowed. You'll hear almost constant traffic noise, but it's not overwhelming. Nice little area!
We have been coming to Jennings with our daughter since she was able to walk, it has a special place in my heart! One of the many wonderful thing about Jennings is that there are trails for just about any level of hiker. There is a paved trail for wheelchairs & individuals with walkers & a nice gazebo at the end, as well as a more challenging long hiking trail for a little bit more adventure, and a mostly flat trail if you go across the Prairie. We have a favorite wading spot by the bridge on the Nature Center side. The Nature Center is open during the day. We’ve have hiked at Jennings spring, summer, fall, and winter and it is a longtime family favorite of ours!
Beautiful! Can not say enough positive things. Prairie living. Learned something new here. View is beautiful.
It's fine. I don't go there often bc I don't like ticks and their seems to be a lot of poison ivy. Some parts of the trails are narrow and steep so for me, it's not as enjoyable because Im always having to watch where i step, I do like the wooded flat areas much better.
I would visit a lot more often if their was a dog park.
I've used the pic nic area but it looks over the parking lot?! And, their are not enough bathrooms.
That said, I'm grateful for the undeveloped area and it would be so sad if this where a walmart... thank goodness their is some place for nature to frolick!!!
